DIY Gallery Wall

This past weekend I finally marked something off my wish list; putting a gallery wall up in my dining room! Since the first day I moved into my apartment I knew I wanted one, but just never seemed to get around to committing to it. 8 months later though I've settled on something I love! I can't stop staring at it and it really adds this bright pop of color and personality to what use to be a very bland space.

*Tip: When hanging up your frames, trace the outline of the frame onto paper(I used old wrapping paper) and mark where the nail holes go. This way you can tape them to your wall and arrange them how you like before putting nail holes into the wall. Also your nail holes are marked so you know it'll all fit perfectly

Everything in this gallery came together with pieces I collected over time and I think that's what makes it more unique. The frames were collected from Goodwill, discount stores, and just some my family or I had on hand. The wooden signs were made by me. The prints you see here were just images I found on Pinterest and printed from my computer. Overall this whole project cost less than $20! I love knowing that I can easily switch things out as my mood changes too!

Have you completed any projects this last weekend? If not what project is on your to do list? I'd love to hear what they are down below.

Drugstore Makeup Favorites

Hey everybody! It's been a while hasn't it? This past week I got sick...in the middle of summer. I rarely get sick in the winter like most people do, but pretty much every summer I come down with something It's definitely not the best way to enjoy summer days. I'm all better now though and back to blogging!

Today I thought I'd share a few of my makeup favorites. Now I'm not really one that wears a lot of makeup, but when I do I tend to stick to products that give a very natural look and don't feel like I'm wearing a lot on my skin. So here are 8 of my all time favorite products that I just can't live without.
1. elf Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder
For this product I use the shade St. Lucia. One of the biggest things I love about this product is how it is two-in-one. I love the warmth the bronzer adds to my skin, especially during the summer time since I don't tan very easily. The blush adds just the right amount of color to my cheeks and is my go-to year round. The shades are very pigmented so a little goes a long way. There are 4 color options for this product as well. Plus for only $3 this product is a steal.

2. Revlon Colorstay 24hr Foundation for Combination/Oily Skin
I discovered this product about 3 years ago when I was on the hunt for a full coverage foundation and haven't found anything better yet. It's medium to full coverage and the coverage is definitely build-able. It lasts me all day long as well which I love. They have such a wide variety of shades too, as well as a combination/dry skin formula.

3. L'oreal Voluminous Million Lashes
I am in love with this mascara. It makes my lashes look crazy long without feeling heavy or clumpy. It separates your lashes and really fans them out. I use the color blackest black and they have 3 other colors as well.

4. Elf Eyelash Curler
This one might be a little boring, but I use to never curl my lashes. Once I did though I never wanted to go back. It just opens your eyes up and makes you look more awake. This one was only $1 too and works great.

5. Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Sorbet
This lip butter goes on smooth and adds the perfect pop of color. The shade I use(sorbet) is a hot pink, but it doesn't look like too much on my lips. It has a bit of a gloss to it as well which I like. This product is well pigmented, but buildable as well. You can add just a touch for a soft look or go all out for a bold lip. They have so many other shades as well that all look amazing on.

6. Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue in Coral Crave
This is my go to lip product. It's a medicated chap stick that adds just a slight tint of color I love it! They have many different colors including a clear.

7.Wet-n-Wild  Eyeshadow Trio in Walking on Eggshells
These eye shadow colors are perfect for a flirty, natural look. It comes with three colors, as you can see in the photo above. A white creamy shade, a chocolate brown, and a rosy pink. All three colors have a lot of pigment to them which I was surprised at for the price. They just add a nice color on your eyes without being overpowering.

8. Simple Ultra-Light Gel Moisturizer
This moisturizer is perfect for people with oily skin. It's a gel so it doesn't feel heavy on your skin or give the greasy feeling you can get with other moisturizers. It blends in really nicely and feels so soft. It has no harsh chemicals, perfumes or dyes as well so it's great for sensitive skin.

What are some of your favorite products? I'm always on the search for something new and I'd love to know. I hope you guys have a fantastic day and I'll see you in the next post.

Tying the Knot

As of yesterday I have been married for one whole month! Even though a month isn't even that long, I still can't believe it's been that long since we said "I do." My wedding day was wonderful, hectic, exciting, and laid back all at the same time.  We knew we wanted something that was rustic and simple and I definitely think it turned out that way.

Although a lot of family disagreed Caleb and I definitely wanted to do a first look. I'm so glad we did too. Once I saw him everything felt much calmer.

The wedding ceremony took place at a little white church in the middle of nowhere that my husband's family built around 20 years ago. I really love that we were able to hold our wedding somewhere sentimental to us. My grandpa was the officiant, which is something he had said he wanted to do since I was a little girl. That in itself was a dream come true for me.

The reception took place at his mom's house in a barn. The same exact barn we had our first kiss in! His mom put so much work into that barn the months leading up to the wedding. We honestly could not have made this wedding possible if it wasn't for all of the work she did.
Pretty much all of the wedding was very do-it-yourself.  The cake stand was made by my husband and his dad. I made all of the cupcakes the night before with the help of my mom. All of the side dishes were made by my mother-in-law and our entree was a smoked pig that a family friend cooked for us. I wish I would've taken some pictures of everyone running around the days leading up to the wedding. Although it was a bit stressful, I wouldn't change a thing about it. I feel like everything that went into the wedding was even more special because we could see all of the hard work that everyone put in to make it possible. Plus, we got such a hands on experience in making sure the wedding turned out exactly how we wanted and I think that truly made the experience better for everyone who came.

I'm not really sure why, but the part I was the most nervous for was the dances. I was so scared I would mess up, but once I got out there time went by so fast I wish it would've lasted just a little bit longer.

I'm sure there's so much more I want to tell y'all, but I would need a whole book to write everything I want to. I wish you could've been there to see it in person! Our wedding was definitely one of the greatest days of my life. I am so incredibly blessed to have the family I do and I'm so thankful I get to spend the rest of my life with the man of my dreams

What I'm Reading: July

Hey everybody! So back in high school I used to read all the time. I could fly through two or three books and month. Now though, as I've gotten busier it seems like I can barely get through 2-3 books a year! I still love to read and want to get back into reading more often So that's what brings us to today's post. I figured what a better way to motivate myself to read than to bring y'all along with me?
At the beginning of every month I'm going to post what I am reading and then the next month it'll be a new book. Maybe this way I'll get over my slump of just a few books a year.

What I'm Reading: The Longest Ride by Nicholas Sparks

The book covers the story of two couples; Ira & Ruth and Luke & Sophia. Ira, at 91 years old, finds himself stranded off the side of the road, clinging to the memories he and his wife shared before her passing. Not far from there is college senior, Sophia who meets a rodeo star named Luke. In an unexpected way the two couples lives with join together reminding each other of the beauty in both love and life.

I'm sure y'all have seen the trailer for this movie that came out last April. Maybe you've even seen the movie. I've had this book on my reading list for a while now and I am so excited to finally get to it.

Are you guys reading anything good this month? Please tell me! Maybe I'll add it to my reading list.
