11 Months Old | Isla Makai

It's been a while since I've posted one of these on here, huh?! I post (sometimes) regularly on my instagram, so I haven't forgotten to taken these pictures. I just never got around to putting them in blog form. So way to go Madi!! I really loved having these posts! And you know what's funny? I even said when I started these that I wasn't going to just forget 3 months..hahah oh joy. Life's funny that way.

So lets make up for 8....OMG EIGHT... months inconsistent baby updates..
. . .
weight | about 20 lbs
height | Over 30 inches, not sure how much over though
sleep | She finally started sleeping through the night last month!! *HALLELUJAH* As soon as her daddy came home and she got her own room, she was totally cool with sleeping without needing a boob every hour. My nipples appreciate that :)
eating | She's cut back to only breastfeeding about 5ish times a day. But she eats 3 meals and a snack or two on top of that. She usulally just eats variations of what we're eating.
likes | she loves toy cars, Peppa Pig, playing in dirt and water, and watermelon
dislikes | when we put the baby gate up, bedtime, and sometimes her carseat
milestones | She took her first steps on the 12th of August and since then has been walking more and more each day!
favorite moment | Seeing her and Caleb back together when he returned from his deployment. They adore each other now that they're back together.

. . .

I better not forget to do the twelve month photo as well. Like c'mon Madi, no excuses!!
How crazy is it that next month is her 1st birthday? That's going to be so fun. I can't wait to share it with y'all.

Until next post,
Madison Herron

The Last 5 Months

Well hello there! It sure has been a while since I did anything here on the blog. Blame it on terrible wifi, lack of motivation, life as a new mama....the list goes on and on!
I started this journey of Caleb being deployed with so many goals in mind. Here we are now so close to the end and as things typically goes, it didn't necessarily go how I planned..

Definitely isn't a bad thing though! These last few months have been such a process of excitement, a few tears, and so many memories. But I absolutely CANNOT wait for it to be over! haha I am so ready to have my husband home and life back to normal.

Thus why I am here again, typing onto my little laptop, and ever so grateful for my mom's fast wifi.

So as I try to keep myself accountable for keeping up to date on posting. I really do love sharing these little details of my life. It's like an online scrapbook for me to look back on. So let's catch up!
. . .
Back in January, Caleb left for his first deployment :( It was emotionally exhausting, but here we are near the end and still going strong. As expected, it's been 100x less fun for him. But we're grateful for him to be coming home soon, happy and healthy :)

While he was gone I drove all the way back to the midwest to spend time with my family and Caleb's.  I drove back and forth between Indiana and Ohio, even making a stop in North Carolina for a bit.

2 more weeks until I am going to head back to Washington. It'll just be me and Isla on this 36 hour drive. I want to get back with enough time to help get things a little settled before Caleb comes home. I can at least have a house picked and some food in the fridge. Although, I'm gonna have to wait for him to help get most of the furniture, but room sleepovers until then don't sound too bad.

Until then.

3 Months Old | Isla Makai

. . .
weight | If I had to guess maybe 12 1/2?
height | Not sure either, sorry!
sleep | She's kind of created her own routine, which is about 4 naps during the day and bedtime by 9:30pm
eating | Eating every 2 to 3 hours usually. She loves her milkies
likes | her playmat (Thanks Grandma!), breastfeeding, silly faces her daddy makes, and watching him play video games
dislikes | getting stuck when rolling everywhere, Mama being out of eyesight for more than 5 minutes
favorite moment | When she rolled back to belly for the first time! I was like "Oh my gosh! Yes!! You can do it!!"
milestones | rolling back to belly and belly to back pretty easily, super strong neck muscles, squealing and lots of coos
. . .
She's reached 25% of her first year! Woah, when you put it that way she'd getting to big too fast!!
This month I would definitely say was the most fun, because she's starting to interact more and more with the world around her. It's so cute watching this big personality come out and seeing her grow into her own person.

Miss Isla
I've loved you more and more over these last 91 days. You're the sweetest little blessing I've ever received!

Be sure to also check out this video I posted on her 3 month update as well!

I Started a YouTube Channel

Happy 1st post of the New Year!
One of my resolutions for 2018 was to start uploading videos to YouTube. As much as I love blogging, it's so obvious that visual content is much more popular than text. You can connect to your audience more as well as really share your day to day life. I think the whole point just comes across better through video. Plus I would love to be able to look back on these videos and see how our lives have changed over the years, especially as little Miss Isla is growing.

So, for my first video I kept it short and sweet. A quick introduction into who exactly is behind the camera. I am so excited to share more videos with y'all and have a lot of content planned so stay tuned and subscribe!
